Role Purpose:

A fabricator in the duct manufacturing industry fabricates and assembles ductwork systems, typically for HVAC applications, according to blueprints and specifications. This involves selecting materials, cutting, shaping, and joining sheet metal or other materials to create ductwork components and systems. They also install these systems, ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and insulation.

Key Task and Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine specifications and plan the fabrication process for ductwork.
• Accurately measure, mark, and cut sheet metal using appropriate tools and machinery, including shears, plasma cutters, and other cutting equipment.
• Operate and set up various fabrication machines such as press brakes, roll formers, and lock forming machines to bend, shape, and form metal to specified dimensions and angles.
• Assemble ductwork components using various fastening methods including welding, riveting, screwing, and other mechanical connections.
• Ensure all fabricated ductwork meets quality standards, tolerances, and project specifications.
• Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they conform to quality control standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment and report any malfunctions or issues.
• Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and production staff, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
• Follow all company policies and safety guidelines.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• Certification or vocational training in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
• Experience with welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, spot welding).
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and ductwork installation practices.
