Role Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineer (AC) is responsible for coordinating and supervising air conditioning maintenance activities across assigned sites. The role involves managing day-to-day PPM and reactive maintenance operations, providing technical support, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and acting as the first-line manager for AC technicians and operatives.


Key Task and Responsibilities:

Daily Operations Management

  • Ensure consistent execution of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance for air conditioning systems, including testing and      commissioning.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team for AC maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Monitor work status via CAFM systems to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and technical investigations related to AC system failures and breakdowns.

Resource Management

  • Allocate and manage manpower, tools, equipment, and materials for AC-related maintenance activities.
  • Manage inventory within the CAFM system to ensure availability of AC consumables and spare parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory usage and material consumption.

Safety & Compliance

  • Plan and schedule AC maintenance works ensuring safe systems of work are in place.
  • Lead by example in adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
  • Supervise technicians to ensure compliance with safety instructions and procedures.
  • Provide continuous feedback to improve safety performance.
  • Participate in emergency response and evacuation procedures.

Air Conditioning Maintenance

  • Conduct regular QHSE inspections (L10) in line with the approved QHSE plan.
  • Ensure timely reporting and closure of AC-related maintenance issues.
  • Provide technical support for complex AC system faults and ensure prompt service restoration.
  • Ensure all AC works comply with statutory regulations and quality standards.

Customer Satisfaction

  • Liaise with clients or their representatives to ensure AC services meet contractual requirements and expectations.
  • Prepare technical reports related to AC failures, inspections, and major maintenance events.
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

Quality Control

  • Identify, report, and address deficiencies in AC maintenance, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ensure all AC-related works are completed within agreed timelines and quality benchmarks.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the FM industry, with at least 4 years in an engineering role.
  • IOSH Supervising Safely or equivalent certification.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and FM service delivery.
  • Proficiency in CAFM systems and basic computer applications.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
